Accounting Bookkeeper

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Bookkeeper to join our team and support the accounting operations of an Australian accounting and financial services business. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Australian bookkeeping and accounting practices, including working with Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSFs). You will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, completing reconciliations, assisting with BAS and financial reporting, and supporting the preparation of SMSF accounts and financial statements. This role requires someone who understands Australian accounting processes and can confidently work with Australian clients, accountants and financial advisers. Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records for Australian clients
• Perform bank, credit card and other account reconciliations
• Process and categorise transactions in Xero
• Review general ledger accounts and identify discrepancies
• Prepare bookkeeping records for BAS and financial reporting
• Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Maintain supporting documentation and organised client files
• Assist with bookkeeping and accounting for Self-Managed Super Funds
• Record investment transactions, dividends, distributions, interest and other investment income

About you

• Minimum 2 years' experience working in Australian accounting or bookkeeping
• Demonstrated experience working with Australian clients
• Hands-on experience with SMSF bookkeeping/accountingStrong Xero experience
• Understanding of Australian GST and BAS processes
• Experience performing detailed reconciliations
• Ability to prepare accurate accounting records and workpapers
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
