IT Platform Engineer

This role involves assessing infrastructure requirements and designing solutions covering compute, storage, memory, and network capacity based on current and forecasted demand. You will own server management and platform architecture across the department's IT environment, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Assess infrastructure requirements and design solutions covering compute, storage, memory, and network capacity based on current and forecasted demand
• Own server management and platform architecture across the department's IT environment, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance
• Conduct database analysis to inform architectural decisions and capacity planning (storage growth, query performance, data volume trends)
• Lead and oversee the service monitoring team, setting standards for platform performance monitoring, alerting, and incident response

Partner with system administrators, developers, and business stakeholders to evaluate infrastructure improvements and maintain architectural documentation and SOPsAbout you

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field
• Proven experience in infrastructure architecture, server management, or platform engineering
• Experience with capacity planning and forecasting for compute, storage, and memory resources
• Strong background in on-prem and AWS Cloud server infrastructure and system architecture design
• Ability to assess business/technical requirements and translate them into concrete infrastructure solutions

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to read and analyze server and database logs to investigate issues and assess capacity improvements based on volume trends and recurring issues

• Familiarity with monitoring tools and platforms, and experience managing or guiding a monitoring function
• Strong documentation skills, with the ability to clearly record findings, processes, and architectural decisions
• Experience leading or managing a technical team (e.g., monitoring, operations) is a plus
