About the role
Summary
The Staff Accountant II reports directly to the Accounting Manager. The Staff Accountant II performs senior level complex accounting functions and reporting through the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Reports the organization's finances to management. This position identifies process improvement opportunities and performs general accounting functions as assigned by management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintains responsibility for key Accounting functions (i.e. cash, investments, accounts receivable, prepaids, fixed assets, internally used software,

s payable, leases, deferred rent, accounts payable, customer advances, accrued expenses, income taxes, rebates, payroll, etc.);
- Uses Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and controls that will prevent or reduce risk of potential misstatements or misappropriations;
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Prepares journal entries for the general ledger;
- Ensures timely reconciliation of all general ledger accounts that underlie the financial statements;
- Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports;
- Works under deadlines and quickly resolves accounting challenges that impact many of the functional areas of the company;
- Prepare related correspondence to various state and federal entities;
- Assists in the budgeting process and ensures that a timely and accurate budget is produced and approved by leadership.
- Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations;
- Assists in the monthly reporting process including compiling financials, identification of variances and packaging of final reports for leadership;

- Education and/or Experience BS/BA and 3+ years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must have evidence of advanced working knowledge of Acumatica or equivalent accounting software, and strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant preferred
Other Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge, understanding, and can apply GAAP concepts and rules;
- Knowledgeable of the accounting field's current concepts, practices, and procedures; prior experience applying GAAP concepts and rules required; General ledger proficiency required
