ABOUT THE ROLE

The Software QA Engineer (Automation) designs, builds and maintains the automation frameworks that keep our web applications and APIs release-ready. This is an engineering role, not a script-execution role. We need someone who can architect a framework from the ground up, keep it scalable as the product grows and still apply sound manual testing judgment where automation is not the right answer.

The role sits inside Agile delivery and works shoulder to shoulder with developers. When a test fails, you are expected to find out why, trace it to its root cause and drive it to resolution with Engineering. Quality signals from your pipelines and reports will shape release decisions, so accuracy and clear communication matter as much as technical depth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Automation Framework Engineering

• Design, develop and maintain automated test frameworks using Java and Selenium WebDriver.
• Build reusable automation components using the Page Object Model (POM) and hybrid framework approaches.
• Create and maintain test suites using Test

NG or JUnit, REST Assured and Cucumber.

Web and API Test Coverage

• Develop automated tests for web applications and REST APIs, using REST Assured and Postman for API validation.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, end-to-end and API testing across releases.

CI/CD Integration

• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab or equivalent tools, with Maven and Git as the build and version control backbone.
• Keep pipeline test runs stable and trustworthy so results can gate releases with confidence.

Defect Analysis and Resolution

• Analyze test failures, identify defects and perform root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with Engineering teams to resolve defects and prevent recurrence.

Quality Reporting and Agile Delivery

• Maintain automated test results, reporting and quality metrics.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum delivery and manage testing activities through Jira.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline. Equivalent hands-on automation experience may compensate for a nontechnical degree.

Experience

• 4 to 8 years of QA and software testing experience, with substantial hands-on test automation experience within that span.
• Framework ownership. Proven experience designing and maintaining automation frameworks, not only executing existing scripts.
• Agile delivery. Has worked in Agile/Scrum teams with testing activities managed in Jira.
• Testing fundamentals. Good understanding of manual testing fundamentals, test design and defect management.

Certifications (Advantage, Not Required)

• Testing: ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level; ISTQB Advanced Level Test Automation Engineer is a stronger advantage.
• Agile: Professional Scrum Master I or Certified Scrum

Master.

• Cloud: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals or an equivalent entry-level cloud credential.

Technical Skills

• Core Java. Strong proficiency in Core Java and OOP concepts, including Collections, Exception Handling and Java 8+ features.
• Selenium WebDriver and Test

NG. Strong hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver and Test

NG; JUnit experience is also relevant.

• API testing and automation. Hands-on API testing and automation using REST Assured and Postman.
• Framework design patterns. Strong knowledge of the Page Object Model and hybrid framework design; experience with Cucumber and BDD.
• Build and CI/CD tooling. Working experience with Jenkins, Maven, Git and CI/CD pipelines, including GitLab or equivalent tools.
• Cross-browser testing. Exposure to cross-browser testing platforms such as Browser

Stack or Lambda

Test.

• AI-assisted testing (a plus). Experience with AI-assisted testing, AI-native QA practices or agentic testing tools is an advantage.
• Added advantage. Experience with performance testing, security testing, cloud environments and containerized applications.

• Collaborative problem solver. Works with Engineering to fix causes, not just symptoms, and improves the framework as the product changes.
