Love

Yourself, Inc. is looking for a detail-oriented Research & Innovations Officer. The RIO will be responsible for the following:

• SHIELD study implementation by undertaking tasks related to participant and data management and regulatory and compliance monitoring;
• and the broader Love

Yourself Research & Innovations and/or external grant endeavors through end-to-end research and/or project implementation.

Support for the SHIELD Study Implementation

• Be knowledgeable of the approved research protocol and applicable regulations, and ensure that the study is performed in accordance with the same and in compliance with clinic and/or sponsor policies, procedures, and safety practices (relevant training will be provided prior to study implementation)
• Work with the PMRI in setting up and maintaining the study master files/regulatory binder
• Work closely with fellow study staff to facilitate and continually improve efficiency of study operations at the two study sites
• Ensure the availability of up-to-date study materials (e.g., informed consent forms, case report forms [CRFs], etc.) and clinical care forms, and help maintain adequate inventory of other relevant office supplies
• Safekeep study equipment, including, but not limited to, laptop, tablets, and printer
• Help implement online and offline recruitment strategies in accordance with the approved protocol
• Facilitate study visit check-in and wrap-up procedures
• Ensure that prospective and current participants needing special considerations/protections (e.g., minors, illiterate, pregnant women, etc.) are designated to the Research Social Worker for the conduct of relevant study procedures
• As needed, perform various study activities such as, but not limited to: conducting study briefing sessions; screening potential participants for eligibility using study inclusion criteria; administering informed consent and applicable questionnaires; and, ensuring requisite participant and/or staff signatures and dates on study checklists and forms
• As applicable, thoroughly and consistently record relevant participant data using study-prescribed paper-based and/or electronic forms and applicable clinical care forms, observing good documentation principles and precautions to maintain participant and data confidentiality
• Compile study documentation, including but not limited to, source documents and case report forms (CRFs), and retain, organize and safeguard them in accordance with sponsor and regulatory requirements
• As needed, perform timely electronic data entry and multiple instances of quality checks of study documents and CRFs, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and conformity to source documentation, and upholding data privacy and confidentiality
• Ensure participant safety and privacy throughout the study visit and address any participant concerns together with other members of the study team or clinic/laboratory staff
• Coordinate with the appropriate Finance personnel to ensure that participants receive appropriate compensation, per the approved protocol
• Maintain relevant paper-based and/or electronic study logs and trackers relating to participant screening and enrollment, recruitment, and data management, among others, to efficiently monitor overall study operations
• Coordinate with the sponsor’s and/or organization’s IT personnel to ensure that a. study systems (e.g., CAST, REDCap web application) are functional; b. timely troubleshooting and resolution are made when issues arise; and c. issues unresolved locally are escalated to the appropriate channels, and frequent follow-ups are made until these are resolved
• In cases of unanticipated problems, concerns on participant or staff safety, or protocol deviations, prepare proper documentation and report immediately to the PMRI and/or Investigators
• Assist the Investigators and PMRI in preparing periodic sponsor and regulatory reports, responding to data queries and monitoring and/or audit findings, and implementing corresponding recommendations
• Organize, coordinate, and/or document regular meetings with the study team to provide updates and address implementation concerns
• Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the Investigators

• Compile background information and perform literature reviews to inform research design, data analysis, and manuscript development
• Prepare requirements for ethics review submissions, amendment applications, and regulatory reporting of research projects
• As applicable, lead or support recruitment and enrollment of study participants in accordance with study protocol and ethical guidelines
• As necessary, lead or assist in administering surveys, interviews, focus group discussions, and other research instruments to study participants
• Perform basic data cleaning, coding, and preparation for quantitative and/or qualitative analysis
• Prepare research abstracts, manuscripts, posters, and presentations for conferences and publications
• As applicable, work with the Head of External Grants and other grants personnel in planning, implementing, documenting, and reporting HIV projects, innovations, service delivery activities, and/or capacity-building initiatives
• Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the Head of Knowledge and Innovations and the Research and Innovations Unit’s Scientific and Program Managers

B. Competencies & Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in any health-related field or courses, or Allied Health courses
• Preferably with at least one (1) year of research-related experience, but fresh graduates are encouraged to apply
• Background/experience in LGBTQI+/HIV program is an advantage but not required; an experience in clinical trials, HIV care
• Preferably living in or near Barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City
• Can work with minimal supervision, highly trainable, detail-oriented, resourceful, can work well within a team, proactive, open to constructive feedback, and gender-sensitive
• CLINICAL - Able to embody status-neutral, person-centered approaches, and unconditional positive regard towards clients
• TECHNICAL - Familiarity with research; proficient in oral and written English business communication; operation of computer and other ICT equipment; knowledge in the use of Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and other online productivity tools; organizational skills; time and workload management; team and partner management
