About the role

About Us

Plantax Pty Ltd is a Melbourne-based accounting and business advisory firm servicing Australian clients across a range of industries. We are expanding our offshore delivery team and are looking for an experienced bookkeeper who can hit the ground running on Australian compliance work.

Role Overview

We're hiring an experienced Bookkeeper with strong Australian bookkeeping, payroll, and BAS experience to join our team. This is a full-time, work-from-home role.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end bookkeeping for a portfolio of Australian clients using Xero, MYOB, and/or QuickBooks
  • Preparation and lodgement of BAS/IAS in line with ATO

requirements

  • Processing weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payroll — including PAYG withholding, superannuation, and Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting
  • Bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger maintenance
  • Preparing management reports and financial statements for review by senior accountants
  • Liaising with the Melbourne-based team on client queries, deadlines, and reporting

requirements

  • Assisting with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Maintaining accurate, up-to-date records across all client files and ensuring compliance with Australian accounting standards
  • Experience & Skills Required
  • Minimum 3+ years' hands-on bookkeeping/payroll experience working specifically with Australian clients (mandatory — not general/local market bookkeeping)
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero, MYOB, and/or QuickBooks
  • Solid understanding of GST/BAS, PAYG, superannuation guarantee obligations, and STPExperience with Australian payroll cycles, awards, and compliance

requirements

  • High attention to detail and strong data accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise, and meet recurring deadlines
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • BAS Agent registration (or actively working towards it) is an advantage

Role Details

  • Employment type: Full-time, permanent
  • Work arrangement: Remote
  • Working hours: Aligned with Australian business hours
