You’ll be part of Strong

Mind’s Interactive Learning engineering team, within our broader Engineering organization, working closely with instructional designers, curriculum developers, and our design/media team. This team is responsible for turning instructional concepts and visual assets into functioning, standards-aligned interactive experiences that K–12 students use directly inside their courses. The team culture is collaborative and hands-on, and you’ll have opportunities to learn new front-end techniques, work closely with non-engineering partners, and see your code turn into learning experiences that students actually use in the classroom. • While no two days are exactly the same, you can expect to:
• Build interactive, game-like learning experiences — drag-and-drop activities, simulations, branching scenarios, practice games, and similar — using front-end web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Integrate graphics, animations, audio, and other assets from our design/media team into functioning, polished interactives.
• Make sure interactives are responsive, accessible (following WCAG standards), and perform well across the browsers and devices used in K–12 classrooms.
• Collaborate with instructional designers, curriculum developers, and designers to translate learning objectives into interactive functionality.
• Build and maintain reusable interactive templates and components that speed up future development.
• Use GitHub for version control and code review, and help maintain lightweight build and deployment pipelines for interactive content.
• Troubleshoot and resolve bugs and performance issues in existing interactives.
• Use AI coding assistants (such as GitHub Copilot or Claude) to help write, test, and debug code more efficiently — applying your own judgment to make sure the output is functional, accessible, secure, and consistent with Strong

• Participate in code reviews, and communicate progress, blockers, and technical considerations clearly to your engineering lead and cross-functional partners. This role balances hands-on building with cross-functional collaboration and is well-suited for someone who enjoys turning ideas into interactive, working software and is eager to keep learning new tools and techniques. Your Expertise Includes

We’re looking for someone who brings

• Foundational knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (or TypeScript).
• A basic understanding of a front-end framework such as React or Vue, or a strong willingness and ability to learn one quickly.
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub or a similar version control system.
• Comfort using AI coding tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or Chat

GPT) as part of a development workflow.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with non-engineering partners, including design and instructional design teams.
• Eagerness to learn and grow professionally as a software engineer.
• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience — bootcamp graduates, self-taught developers with a strong portfolio, and associate degree holders are all welcome to apply.
• 0–2 years of professional software development experience. Bonus points if you also have:
• Experience building games or interactive experiences, including through personal projects, coursework, bootcamps, or internships.
• Familiarity with canvas or game libraries (such as Phaser or Pixi

JS) or animation libraries (such as GSAP or Lottie).

• Exposure to web accessibility standards (WCAG).
• Interest in K–12 education or ed-tech.
• Familiarity with front-end build tools (such as Webpack or Vite) or basic CI/CD pipelines.
