Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of Australian Public Practice accounting and taxation experience, including hands-on preparation of Australian income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships
- Strong experience reviewing Australian tax returns, financial statements, and supporting workpapers for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Hands-on experience with MYOB, preferably MYOB AEStrong proficiency in Xero for accounting, taxation, bookkeeping, and financial reporting
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- CA or CPA qualification, or progress toward certification, preferred
- Strong knowledge of Australian taxation, ATO compliance requirements, financial reporting standards, and Public Practice processes
- Experience managing multiple accounts, tax engagements, deadlines, and deliverables
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and tax review skills with excellent attention to detail
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional, service-focused approach
- Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members and senior stakeholders
- Proactive, adaptable, and committed to delivering accurate, compliant, and high-quality work
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple accounting and taxation deliverables while achieving at least 90% billable productivity
- Apply current Australian taxation requirements, accounting standards, regulatory guidelines, and internal quality controls
- Produce financial statements, tax returns, management reports, and supporting documentation using MYOB AE, Xero, and other accounting platforms
- Track work in progress, coordinate priorities, and communicate key updates or concerns to senior stakeholders
- Provide timely responses to client queries and assist managers and senior team members with accounting and operational requirements
- Monitor changes across Australian tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements to maintain technical accuracy
- Support junior team members through guidance, mentoring, and technical knowledge sharing
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, professional conduct, documentation, and compliance with established policies and procedures
