Software Development Engineer

Job Description The Software Development Engineer (SDE) Apprentice is an entry-level role designed to provide hands-on experience in software development and quality assurance activities within an Agile environment. The apprentice supports requirement analysis, test case creation and execution, defect reporting, documentation, and basic development-related tasks under the guidance of experienced team members. The role provides foundational exposure to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), Agile methodologies, and software engineering best practices while developing technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Duties and Tasks Assist in requirement analysis and understanding business and functional requirements. Support the creation and execution of test cases and test scenarios based on approved requirements Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Apply Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) principles in assigned testing activities. Assist in supporting the daily tasks involving in QA manual testing activities and execution Assist in developing, maintaining, and documenting software features under supervision Perform analysis and bug reporting Ensure adherence to governance, security policies and best practices. Collaborate with the team to identify and resolve software issues. Participate in continuous learning and training programs related to software development, testing, and emerging technologies. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in information technology, systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience) Basic understanding of programming or scripting (e.g. Python, Java) is an advantage. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good communication and teamwork skills Willingness to learn and adapt to software engineering and testing best practices. Preferred Skills Basic knowledge of software testing activities Basic understanding of SDLC and STLC QA manual testing and reporting Knowledge in JIRA, Trello or other tracking tools is a plus but not required Experience No prior professional experience required; internships or academic projects that have programming languages of java or python with SQL are an advantage.
