Bookkeeper / Accountant (Remote, Independent Contractor)

About the Role

We are an Australian manufacturing company looking for a smart, reliable Bookkeeper / Accountant to join our team on a long term remote basis. You will own our day to day bookkeeping in Xero, keep our payables and receivables moving, process payroll, and deal directly with customers on refunds and credits. This role suits someone who is accurate with numbers, confident on the phone and email, and takes pride in keeping the books clean.

Key Responsibilities

• Raise customer invoices and complete daily bank reconciliations in Xero
• Push bills and invoices through Approval
• Max and follow up to get them approved
• Process Australian payroll, including Single Touch Payroll (STP) and superannuation
• Liaise with customers on refunds, credits and account queries, keeping every interaction professional and friendly
• Post manual journals and accruals
• Complete month-end close and all monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Keep accounts receivable and payable up to date and flag overdue items
• Support the management with reports and ad hoc tasks as needed

Requirements

• Proven bookkeeping experience with Xero (Australian clients strongly preferred)
• Hands on experience with Xero add ons such as Approval
• Max, Zaprier, Dext, Hubdoc, Float, and other budgetting add ons. Experience processing Australian payroll, STP and super
• Strong written and spoken English with genuine customer care skills
• Detail oriented, organised and able to work independently
• Degree in Accounting or related field preferred
• Reliable computer, stable high speed internet with a backup connection, and a quiet workspace
• Available to work Australian business hours (approx. 6:00am to 3:00pm Philippine time)
