The Qualifications We Seek

Education and Professional

Qualifications

• Accounting degree or a related degree with a major in accounting
• Completed CA or CPA qualification, or current progress toward completion

Practical Experience

• At least 5 years of proven accounting and taxation experience within New Zealand
• Experience managing a broad client portfolio, including SMEs, trusts, partnerships, and companies across various industries
• Demonstrated ability to follow established processes and procedures
• Proven success collaborating with colleagues to achieve shared outcomes and goals

Technical Skills

Thorough understanding of New Zealand tax legislation, including GST, FBT, and the Companies ActProficiency in preparing financial statements, income tax returns, and other lodgements for companies, partnerships, trusts, and individual businesses

Experience using MYOB, Xero, Reckon, and Quick

Books

• Familiarity with Reckon APS, which is desirable
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook

Your Daily Tasks

Tax Preparation and Compliance

Prepare tax returns, activity statements, and other lodgements in accordance with current New Zealand tax

requirements

• Complete workpapers and reconcile accounts through the financial statement stage
• Prepare complex financial statements, income tax returns, and other lodgements for companies, partnerships, trusts, and individual businesses
• Manage accounting requirements for large groups, including inter-entity reconciliations
• Maintain workpapers, client files, and supporting documentation in accordance with established compliance

Client and Advisory Support

• Assist clients with tax planning, GST, and bookkeeping matters
• Support business advisory projects involving budgets, cash flow forecasts, and management reporting
