Position Overview
The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing the overall marketing strategy of the Outpost Group, covering Outpost Hostels and Castaway Tours. The role focuses on increasing brand awareness, direct bookings, guest engagement, and revenue while maintaining a consistent brand identity across all businesses and locations. The Marketing Manager will lead content creation, digital marketing, partnerships, promotions, and campaign performance while coordinating closely with Operations, Sales, and Management.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy and Planning
Develop and implement the annual marketing plan for Outpost Hostels and Castaway Tours. Create campaigns that support occupancy, tour bookings, events, and seasonal business targets. Prepare and manage the marketing calendar across all brands and locations. Identify market trends, guest behavior, and opportunities for business growth. Ensure marketing activities are aligned with the company’s revenue and operational goals. Brand Management
Maintain a consistent brand identity, voice, and visual direction across all platforms. Ensure that marketing materials accurately represent the Outpost and Castaway guest experience. Review and approve promotional materials, advertisements, captions, videos, and other brand content. Protect the reputation of the brands through proper communication and timely response to concerns. Digital Marketing and Content
Oversee social media accounts, websites, online listings, and booking platforms. Plan and supervise the creation of photos, videos, reels, advertisements, and promotional materials. Develop content that highlights the hostel experience, island destinations, expeditions, events, and company culture. Manage paid digital advertising campaigns and monitor their effectiveness. Improve website traffic, online visibility, engagement, and direct bookings. Campaigns, Partnerships, and Promotions
Develop promotions for low seasons, special events, new services, and priority destinations. Build partnerships with travel agencies, influencers, content creators, local businesses, and tourism organizations. Coordinate familiarization trips, collaborations, and brand activations. Evaluate partnership proposals based on brand fit and potential business value. Performance Monitoring and Reporting
Establish clear targets and key performance indicators for all marketing activities. Monitor campaign reach, engagement, inquiries, conversion rates, direct bookings, and return on marketing spend. Prepare regular marketing performance reports for Management. Use performance data and guest feedback to improve future campaigns. Monitor competitor activities, pricing, promotions, and market positioning. Team and Cross-Department Coordination
Lead and guide the Social Media and Content Creator and other marketing support personnel. Coordinate with hostel and tour operations to ensure that campaigns are accurate and operationally achievable. Work with Recruitment and HR on employer branding and recruitment campaigns when needed. Coordinate with external photographers, videographers, designers, agencies, and other suppliers. Ensure marketing projects are completed on time and within the approved budget.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Hospitality, Tourism, or a related field. At least three years of relevant experience in marketing, preferably within hospitality, tourism, travel, lifestyle, or entertainment. Proven experience in developing and managing marketing campaigns. Strong understanding of social media, digital advertising, content marketing, and brand management. Experience leading a team or managing external creatives and suppliers. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to analyze marketing data and translate it into practical business decisions. Willing to travel between Outpost Group locations when required. Preferred Profile
Creative but commercially focused. Understands the travel preferences and online behavior of backpackers, international travelers, and younger markets. Strong sense of branding, visual quality, and storytelling. Organized and capable of managing multiple brands, campaigns, and deadlines. Comfortable working closely with operations in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Proactive, resourceful, and able to work with minimal supervision. Key Performance Indicators
Growth in direct bookings and qualified inquiries. Achievement of campaign revenue and booking targets. Improvement in social media reach, engagement, and audience growth. Website traffic and conversion performance. Return on advertising and marketing spend. Timely delivery of the marketing calendar and planned campaigns. Quality and consistency of branding across all businesses. Number and performance of successful partnerships and collaborations. Completion and accuracy of monthly marketing reports. Reporting Line
The Marketing Manager reports directly to the Group Management and works closely with the Operations Managers and department heads of Outpost Hostels and Castaway Tours.
