About the role
Team Leadership: Lead and supervise the Accounting team, including work allocation, deadline management, and oversight of daily accounting operations. Performance Management: Manage team performance by setting goals, reviewing deliverables, and coaching and developing staff. Approval Authority: Review and approve invoices, journal vouchers, payments, telegraphic transfers (TT), and account reconciliations. Financial Closing: Oversee and take full responsibility for monthly and annual financial closing activities, ensuring timely completion. Import & Trade Accounting: Demonstrate strong knowledge of import and trade accounting, including landed cost, customs documentation (SAD/SSDT), import duties, and import VAT.Commission Accounting: Record and manage commission income related to trading transactions. Triangular Trade: Handle accounting for triangular trade transactions, where the company acts as an intermediary while goods are shipped directly between two foreign countries. Foreign Currency & Remittances: Process foreign currency transactions and telegraphic transfers (TT), including foreign exchange gains/losses and foreign currency revaluation. Tax Treaty Compliance: Apply cross-border withholding tax regulations and the Philippines–Japan Tax Treaty (RP–Japan Tax Treaty). Head Office Reporting: Process intercompany transactions and prepare monthly reporting packages for the Japan headquarters. Compliance: Ensure compliance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) and BIR regulations, including VAT, withholding taxes, and eFPS filing requirements. Audit & Reconciliation: Perform bank and account reconciliations and coordinate with both internal and external auditors during audit engagements. Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification required.5–8 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role. Practical work experience in a trading/import-export company or a Japanese-affiliated company. Direct hands-on experience in import operations, commission (brokerage) transactions, international remittances, and cross-border transactions.
