About the role
POSITION OVERVIEWThe Branch Accountant is responsible for ensuring the financial integrity, compliance, and overall financial health of the branch. The role oversees accounting operations, cash management, inventory control, accounts receivable and payable, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance while providing timely financial insights to support business decisions. Working closely with the Branch Integrator, Branch Manager, Money Workgroup Head, and the Head Office Accounting and Internal Audit teams, the Branch Accountant safeguards company assets, supports the achievement of branch Rocks & Goals, and ensures adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Cash and Accounts Receivable Management
Monitor daily cash transactions and ensure accurate recording of collections and deposits. Perform regular bank reconciliations and ensure all collections are deposited completely and on time. Review and monitor accounts receivable balances, aging, and collection status. Validate invoice deductions and ensure proper documentation in accordance with company policies. Conduct periodic Petty Cash Fund (PCF) counts and reconcile variances.2. Inventory Control and Asset Management
Monitor inventory movements and reconcile inventory records with physical counts. Conduct cycle counts and annual physical inventory to ensure inventory accuracy. Analyze inventory adjustments and investigate significant variances. Monitor branch assets through proper tagging, documentation, and periodic verification. Recommend improvements to strengthen inventory and asset controls.3. Accounts Payable Management
Review supplier invoices and supporting documents before payment processing. Perform three-way matching of Purchase Orders, Receiving Reports, and Supplier Invoices. Monitor due dates and ensure timely processing of supplier payments. Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments regarding payment concerns.4. Financial Analysis and Expense Management
Review branch operating expenses and ensure completeness of supporting documents. Monitor budget utilization and analyze budget versus actual expenditures. Prepare financial analyses and recommend opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiency. Evaluate product costs, gross margins, and profitability to support business decisions. Monitor fund transfers, liquidations, and reimbursement transactions for compliance and accuracy.5. Sales and Profitability Review
Analyze branch sales performance and validate sales transactions. Review pricing, discounts, and promotional activities for compliance and accuracy. Prepare sales performance reports and profitability analyses. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support sales and operational initiatives.6. Compliance and Internal Controls
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and government regulations. Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and reports. Monitor compliance with tax, statutory, and regulatory requirements. Identify control weaknesses and recommend corrective actions to mitigate financial risks.7. Business Performance Support
Provide timely financial reports and analysis to support branch decision-making. Monitor key financial and operational performance indicators. Support the achievement of branch Rocks & Goals by providing relevant financial insights. Participate in business reviews and strategic planning discussions.8. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Coordinate with Branch Operations, Sales, Warehouse, Logistics, Billing, Credit & Collection, and Head Office departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and operational alignment. Assist department heads in understanding financial performance and budget utilization. Support branch initiatives requiring financial analysis and monitoring.9. Other

Perform other accounting, financial, and administrative tasks as assigned. Continuously recommend process improvements that strengthen financial controls and operational efficiency. Uphold confidentiality and integrity in handling financial information.
