About the role
The Senior Accountant supports clients across a range of industries with both regular bookkeeping and ongoing accounting and compliance needs. This includes payroll processing, general ledger account reconciliations, tax lodgements, management reporting and other advisory. The role involves working directly with clients and collaborating with the team.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping for multiple clients across different industries in Xero, Karbon and Quick
Books
- Identify errors in bank feeds and missing data
- Review accounts receivable and accounts payable for accuracy
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset registers
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, including payroll and super clearing accounts
- Review profit and loss accounts to ensure correct coding and classification
- Manage source documentation using DEXT and Hubdoc, ensuring timely and accurate capture
- Process payroll for clients, including superannuation and leave calculations
- Complete annual STP finalisations and QLD Work
- Cover wage declarations
- Review annual STP finalisations and QLD Work
- Cover wage declarations prepared by Junior staff
Annual Accounting and Compliance
Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), including Fuel Tax Credit calculations and PAYG Instalment reviews and variations
- Review Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) prepared by Junior staff
- Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, sole traders, companies, trusts and partnerships
- Review straightforward financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, sole traders, companies, trusts and partnerships prepared by Junior staff
- Prepare Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns and supporting
schedule
- sPrepare Taxable Payments Annual Reports (TPAR)Prepare annual tax planning, including preparation of working papers and estimated outcomes
- Prepare business advisory/management reports
- Assist with other advisory tasks such as cashflow projections, and strategic advice
- Experience using Karbon Practice Management
- Prior experience with Karbon Practice Management is preferred but not required for candidates with strong accounting software experience
- Experience using Business Fitness Active Workpapers
- Candidates must have experience using Business Fitness Active Workpapers
- Experience using FYI Docs for document management
- Experience with DEXT for source document management
- Ability to research and interpret Australian tax legislation and ATO guidance
Working knowledge of key technical areas such as Division 7A, GST, and FBTFamiliarity with client-facing communication, including preparation of summary emails and working paper

sQualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accountancy or any related courses
- Minimum 5 years' experience in an Australian public practice accounting firm
- Proficient in Xero and Xero Practice Manager (XPM), and Karbon
- CA or CPA qualified, or currently undertaking studies
Willing to work onsite for the first 3 months, followed by either a hybrid setup (2–3 days WFH per week) or a full WFH arrangement, subject to client approval, from Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PMCan start ASAP once hired
