About the role
The Senior HR Business Partner will help build and then run HR for client's growing Philippine operations, while supporting the wider APAC and AU region (Singapore, Australia, China, Hong Kong and South Korea).
This is not a role that inherits an established HR setup. In the first 6 months, you'll help design and put in place the local HR foundations: entity and statutory setup, policies, employee relations processes, and pay and benefits structures. After that, you'll help run the function as the trusted advisor to leaders and employees. You'll partner with Global HR and the Singapore team, and you'll set local direction where global policy and Philippine law or practice conflict.
What you'll do
Build
- Entity and statutory setup: Plan and run the order of HR-related registrations and compliance (SEC, BIR, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, DOLE). Own lead times, dependencies and gaps so payroll and benefits go live on time.
- HR foundations from scratch: Design and launch the local employee handbook, code of conduct, employment contracts, disciplinary process (NTE/NOD, due process) and required committees. Localize global policies where needed.
- Pay and benefits design: Design local salary structures, job grading alignment, and benefits (HMO, leave, allowances) using market data. You'll design these and own the recommendation, not only administer them.
- HR operations setup: Set up onboarding, offboarding, 201 files and HRIS processes (Oracle and ADP) so they're ready to audit from day one.
Run
- Strategic advisory: Partner with business leaders on workforce issues. The business owns the strategy, and you make sure HR enables it to be carried out.
- Employee relations: Personally carry complex ER cases through to resolution, including terminations. Represent the company in SEnA, DOLE and NLRC proceedings, and work with external counsel where needed.
- Performance management: Coach managers through performance issues and follow each case to closure.
- Global and local alignment: Work across the matrix with Global HR and regional leads. Raise and resolve conflicts between global policy and local requirements.
- Engagement and growth: Lead local engagement programs, and scale HR processes as headcount grows.
What you'll bring
Must-haves
- 8+ years of HR experience, including 5+ years as an HRBP, HR Manager or HR Consultant.
- Proven build experience: You've set up an HR function, office, entity or major HR framework from scratch, not only improved one you inherited. Be ready to walk through what existed on day one and what you left behind.
- Direct ER case ownership: You've personally handled terminations and represented an organization in SEnA, DOLE and/or NLRC proceedings. Accompanying counsel or coaching managers alone doesn't meet this requirement.
- Philippine labor law and statutory expertise, including hands-on knowledge of registration order and compliance lead times.
- Pay and benefits design experience: You've built or restructured salary bands, grading or benefits programs.
- Strong written and spoken English, and the ability to give specific, evidence-based examples to leaders at every level.
Strongly preferred
- You've hired and managed HR staff yourself.
- Experience in a multinational matrix, working with global or regional HR teams.
- Working knowledge of Singapore and Australian employment law.
- Hands-on with Oracle and ADP.
Schedule and Setup
- Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours across APAC and US Central time zones to support global stakeholders.
- Work Setup Flexibility: Ability to work in a hybrid setup in Makati or BGC Taguig City
