Property Accountant

Scope of the Role

As a great development role, you will work alongside the team of Property Accountants (on site) and Assistant Accountants (remote) to support and deliver key achievable financial outcomes for your portfolio of hotels in Queensland and Victoria, Australia. Reporting directly to the Assistant Financial Controller based in Brisbane, this role would be suitable for a Chartered Accountant with a Degree in Accounting/Financial Management with minimum 3 years’ experience in Accountant Position in Hotels or accommodation industry. Main Duties/Responsibilities

Strong desire to learn the Australian Management and Letting Rights (MLR) business model

Review and oversee the Accounts Payable function to ensure all bills are managed and paid properly3. Review and oversee the Accounts Receivable function to ensure invoices are correct and accurate, and AR aging is properly managed4. Review and assist in the payroll function to deliver fortnight pays to all staff5. Daily cash flow report and forecast

Managing the General Ledger, month end procedures and financial analysis7. Perform balance sheet reconciliation with proper supporting documents8. Compose management reports and conduct KPI analysis

• With a deep understanding of the nature of the business, assist in preparing accurate forecasts and annual budget
• Lead, manage and train the dedicated Property Accountants on site as well as the Assistant Accountants remotely to achieve the best outcomes
• Support other junior members for their professional development and further education
• Attend meetings (remote) with the company and finance leadership team to discuss matters that need to be planned or actioned
• Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Financial Controller and Financial Controller

Essential Skills/Experience

• Member of Certified Public Accountants
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or financial management
• Minimum 3 years of previous experience in similar roles
• Excellent English communication skills
• Very strong analytical skills
• Ability to work well under pressure and with competing priorities, and under minimum supervision
• Experience in Accounting software such as Xero is highly preferred
